This islay scotch is the color of honey, the nose is very elegant slightly peat and smoke but the normal medicinal odor of islay scotch is very subtle in this 15 year old.  The taste is smoke and nutty, a charcoal undertone through out.  A long finish but just a touch sharp in the middle a hoped for a little more smoothness. If I was choosing between the two I would take the younger quarter cask.  Maybe it will improve on the second tasting.

Second Tasting: It is better the second time around.  The nose is the same, the taste is a sharp vanilla peat what I took as a sharp middle is actually a strong finish of the intial peat and smoke.  The finish is so long and lasting it almost numbs your mouth.  this is going up to a 9.0 from 8.8, on a side note can't wait until my new bottle of 18 year old talisker is in.

Third tasting this is even better, I would give this a 9.3 and will order another bottle.
